“Look back over your last year of projects and compare where you are in terms of skill and knowledge of your craft to this time last year. Have you learned any new skills or forms of knitting/crochet (can you crochet cable stitches now where you didn’t even know such things existed last year? Have you recently put a foot in the tiled world of entrelac? Had you even picked up a pair of needles or crochet hook this time last year?”
I have tried many new techniques this year. The following are a couple that I enjoyed.
Stranded Knittng

This time last year I was finishing up my Dale of Norway Vancouver sweater. Stranded colorwork was new to me. I had always admired DoN sweaters. When I saw the Olympic sweaters, I just had to do it. I learned so much from that project. I steaked for the first time and guess what, I didn’t ruin the sweater. I had to have my mom’s support to cut that 8 inches of knitting but both me and my sweater survived.

Lace shawls
An awesome person introduced me to shawls. It started out with Traveling Woman. Then I moved onto Brandywine. I’m planning on Haruni. I love seeing the pattern develop. I especially love being able to read the lace.
Crochet
A long time ago my mother tried to teach me to crochet. It did not make sense to me. At knit group we have a even ratio of knitters to crocheters. They rubbed off on me and I decided to pick up a hook again. I’ve been mainly doing dishcloths but the stitches make sense to me now. I am planning some bigger crochet projects in the year. I am loving my rediscovered craft.
